The condition of the mind will always have an impact on our behaviours.
With so much exposure to graphic material and abuse online, not to mention the mounting numbers of young people that are exposed first hand to violence and sexual abuse, we need to focus on identifying the early signs of mental health disorders. For most of us, when we speak about mental health, we often think that it only applies to adults and individuals with special needs. this could not be further from the truth!
The fact is, there is a real concern about mental health and youth.
There are many factors that can contribute to mental health disorders. They can range from a variety of conditions. However mental health should always be looked at in the positive.
For people suffering with mental challenges, they may well be the last to identify it is happening to them. It can be quite disturbing to learn that your mental health is a concern to others.
There is also an increase of substance abuse that will eventually contribute towards the general health of the mind. For young people the use Cannabis and other hallucinogens is playing a major role in the increase in the early signs of long term mental health disorders.
Unfortunately, there is little formal education in schools, colleges and provisions that inform young people of this impact.
If you believe that you or someone you know needs help with better understanding mental health or just need support, there are many organisations out there that can offer support.
It is also important to identify the early signs as most mental health issues can be managed. It is not a curse, it is a condition.
